TISSUE BOX MONSTERS (CRAFTS 2nd GRADERS)

Supplies You’ll Need (o que precisarás): 

– Tissue Box (caixa de panos).

– Colored acrylic paint – two different colors, one for the outside (fóra) of the box and one for the inside (dentro). 

– White acrylic paint.

– Googly eyes – different sizes (tamaños) work best.  If you don’t have any, make your own by cutting round pieces of cardboard, and paint white and black (se non tes ollos, podes facelos ti recortando anacos de cartolina e coloreando de branco e negro).

– Large pom poms -  If you don’t have Pom poms, use your imagination and make your own or use buttons, etc (se non tes pom poms, fainos con boliñas de papel, emprega botóns...).

– Black sharpie or marker (rotulador-marcador).

– 1 popsicle sticks (pausiños de xeado opcional) (optional for the purple monster).

– Craft knife (cúter opcional, só adultos) (optional – adults only)

– Glue – hot glue is always going to work best when working with large googly eyes and pom poms, but you can also use an extra-strong glue. Just make sure to let it dry and press and hold for the glue to take (pegamento extra forte, presiona para que pegue ben).

Directions to Make Tissue Box Monsters

1. Pull out any plastic inner lining inside the tissue box before you start (quita o plástico de dentro para comezar).

2. Paint the outside of the tissue box with white to prime (para preparar) the box. Adding white will make sure the design of the tissue box doesn’t show through the paint (para que el diseño de la caja no se vea).

3. Once dry (seco), paint the outside of the tissue box a color of your choice, and paint the inside a different color.

4. Outline around the “mouth” of the monster (the opening of the tissue box) with a black marker. This will make the mouth pop more. Marca o contorno da "boca" (apertura da caixa).

5. For the purple box, cut 1 popsicle stick in half. Paint the pieces purple and let them dry. Glue 2 small googly eyes to the sticks. Make a small slit mark at the top of the box with the craft knife (adults should help with this part) to push the sticks in.
(Para a caixa "morada", corta 1 pausiño pola metade. Pinta e deixa secar. Pega os ollos. Fai unha pequena fenda na parte superior da caixa co cúter (os adultos deben axudar con esta parte) para empuxar os paus).

 6. Glue large googly eyes to the top (parte superior) of the tissue box. You can add one, two, three or more eyes!

7. Cut out large teeth from paper or white cardstock (papel ou cartolina). Glue the teeth to the inside of the tissue box mouth.

8. Give your monsters a little more character by gluing some large pom-poms to the top of the tissue boxes.

Aren’t these monsters just so cute? (lindos) We love how easy (sinxelo) they are and the fact that you can recycle (reciclar) a tissue box to make them! You could even use granola box to make similar ones.

Now you can use them to decorate and to play a game (xogo).  Line up the boxes and throw Pom poms or small soft objects into the mouth of the monster! (lanza pequenos obxectos dentro da "boca" do mostro) Enjoy! (Desfruta)
